About Alexia

Hi, I'm Alexia

My passion to help others dates back to middle school where I took psychology classes and I had the opportunity to be a peer counselor.  As a peer counselor, I started to see positive transformations in my classmates and it became my mission to help everyone and anyone because it was so rewarding to see how I could have a tangible impact on those who were struggling.

I was fascinated by how the mind works and influences our behavior; from communication and memory to thought and emotion. I became invested in learning the underlying cause of our behavior and how it affects our thoughts, feelings, and motivations behind it. Studying psychology helped me to understand myself and realize that there are strategies for relief of many of the day-to-day issues I was struggling with.

This is where my passion began and continues to grow with each individual that I’m privileged to work with.

On a personal note, I’m a wife and mother of two who enjoys exercising, reading, traveling, and spending time with my family and fur babies.

My Approach

My approach to therapy involves engaging individuals as the expert of their own experiences, values, and identities. I blend traditional psychotherapeutic theories with cutting-edge evidence-based techniques, tailored toward each client's individual needs and preferences. I blend elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, mindfulness, neuroscience and somatic psychotherapy.

My goal is to provide a warm and interactive safe space where clients feel validated, seen, and heard while reflecting, offering direct feedback, and respectfully challenging beliefs that might be getting in the way of their happiness. This approach is inspired by the transformations that can occur when an individual is met and understood emotionally in a place where they have not been before.

Education & Trainings

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's degree in Social Work and Bachelor's degree in Psychology, both from Florida Atlantic University.

I have extensive training and experience in numerous evidence-based treatment modalities including EMDRIA-Approved Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Training (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Crisis Intervention Team Training (CIT).
